Hello from Berlin. I'm Raül.
I am from Reus [Catalonia] and studied photography in Barcelona. I started specializing in archaeological photography as I moved to Basel [Switzerland] in 2012 and started working for the IPNA [Universität Basel] as laboratory technician. Since 2021 I am living in Berlin and collaborating with the German Archaeological Institute [DAI], particularly with the projects of the Natural Sciences Unit. Currently, I am working for several projects, including two research projects (at the Muséum national d'Histoire naturelle in Paris and the University of Algarve in Faro, Portugal) investigating the domestication of opium poppy. For this, I will be photographing thousands of seeds of opium poppy which later on will be used by the scientists to do amazing research. I particularly enjoy when I can combine these projects with more artistic photography to illustrate publications or press releases.
